Meet the Maker – Chris Jones

I’ve been called a storyteller at heart — and that’s exactly how I approach knifemaking.
Every Steel Dog knife exists for a reason. The one-of-a-kind handle material, the grain of the wood, the swirling resin patterns… each piece already has a story built into it. Other times, it’s the custom details added for a client — touches that mean something, that make the knife theirs before it ever meets a cutting board.

I focus on culinary knives because cooking brings people together. I grew up in a family where everything centered around a meal — Thanksgiving at my grandmother’s house, afternoons in the restaurants my dad managed, weekend gatherings that always ended in the kitchen.

If I can create a knife that encourages someone to cook, share a meal, and gather the people they care about, then I’ve fulfilled my purpose as a knifemaker.
